MOIST 01: Major Questions of Interest

MOIST 01 will be exploring tools and techniques used in all aspects of Internationalization and Localization testing, including process, development,
workflow, communications, defects, status reporting and platforms.

Questions we are interested in exploring at MOIST 01 include:

  • What tools and techniques lead to effective internationalization and localization testing?
  • In which experiences did Internationalization testing made a difference?
  • In which experiences did Internationalization testing fail to make a difference?
  • How were Internationalization problems discovered?
  • What was their cause?
  • How did software testing uncover problems?
  • Was internationalization testing effective?
  • Was localization testing effective?
  • Were testing tools a success factor?
  • How important are Software Requirements, Design, Development to internationalization and localization testing?
  • Were there internationalization or localization considerations related to System, Integration or Unit Testing?
  • How did internationalization or localization testing lead to commercial success?
  • What tester skills are required in internationalization or localization testing?
  • What are the organizational and business aspects of internationalization and localization testing?
  • What about communicating results?
  • Influence of business context on internationalization testing?
  • Did terrible failures lead to effective testing?
  • What is the story?
  • How did you get business to support for internationalization testing?
MOIST 01 will give working practitioners (testers) a chance to examine, discuss and brainstorm these questions.

About MOIST

The MOIST conference is invitation-only, and is expected to be over-subscribed.

Submitting a proposal to present at MOIST increases your chances of being invited.

The MOIST conference promises to be a unique opportunity for learning and professional growth. MOIST is an intimate conference - we restrict attendance to less than 25 people.

One of the important goals of MOIST is community building among internationalization and localization testing professionals.

MOIST conferences are self-funded and non-profit events. Participants are asked to share the cost of meals and incidental expenses. We expect these costs to be less than US$200 per delegate.

Our Objectives: (What we are Seeking in this CFP)

MOIST 01 is seeking experience reports (ERs) of your relevant first hand experiences and innovations from past projects and from your current initiatives (as-yet unfinished and unproven projects).

We are more interested in effective presentations and enlightening exchanges than in formal papers. A detailed paper is welcome though not required. For your presentation, an organized outline is enough. We are looking for informative, in-depth storytelling by experienced practitioners. Your proposal to present should contain enough substance for us to understand and evaluate it. Content is more important than format. Your presentation should omit any confidential data (anything that requires an NDA).

Reports and presentations are welcome over a broad range of topics related to internationalization and localization testing. The test domain is broad and may include many different technology and product domains.
